Dirk Ellerkamp was appointed solo trombonist of the Dortmund Philharmoniker in 2012. Previously he has served as the co-principal trombone at the 'Badische Staatskapelle” in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Dirk began his musical studies at the age of nine, studying euphonium with Ben Cruiming. Four years later,
Dirk made the decision to switch to trombone and study with Henri Gerrits.
While earning both his bachelors and masters at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede, he studied with Peter van Klink. During his studies, Dirk attended the Mozarteum in Salzburg studying with Danny Bonvin on an extended exchange program.
Dirk has performed with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the Dutch 'Radio Filharmonisch Orkest', North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Hamburger Philharmoniker, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Staatskapelle Weimar.
Dirk Ellerkamp plays exclusively on Lätzsch Trombones.
